Cellomics Launches Enhanced and Improved ArrayScan® HCS Reader Version 4.0
Pittsburgh, PA (May 29, 2002) - Cellomics, Inc., the pioneer of High Content Screening (HCS) and market leader with numerous instruments installed worldwide, announced today the launch of the ArrayScan HCS Reader Version 4.0 as part of the new dimension in HCS. The ArrayScan HCS Reader is a complete, automated solution for cell-based screening, allowing users to extract vital data on the relative distribution and activity of cellular constituents combined with morphometric measurements in fixed samples. Building on the success of the current product ArrayScan HCS Reader, Version 4.0 incorporates a new, completely automated optical bench, expanded filter combinations, additional objective options, and optimized computer hardware and software.
The result is significant enhancements in key performance criteria including flexibility, ease of use, and speed. The ‘protocol assignment’ feature allows multiple scientists to carry out different HCS assays in the same unattended run. Expanded six-color capability enables wider reagent selection to be applied to each multi-parameter assay. Speed enhancements have resulted in a 40% reduction in plate scan times. Cellomics continues to provide researchers with innovative tools to reduce manual operations, boost productivity, and increase reproducibility of cell-based assays. “We believe these enhancements will ensure that Cellomics’ HCS technology continues to be at the forefront of discovery,” stated Paul Kinnon, VP of Sales. “We have listened to our significant customer base and have developed a solution that allows the expansion of HCS with more users per instrument, carrying out a wider variety of multiplexed assays, in a much shorter time frame,” added Joseph Zock, Senior Commercial Manager for the ArrayScan HCS Reader. Cellomics, Inc. is pioneering the field of cellular knowledge extraction. Its unique technology, referred to as High Content Screening (HCS), integrates fluorescent reagents, kits, cell lines, multi-parametric assays, HCS instrumentation (both fixed end-point and kinetics systems), and information management systems to achieve a flexible, broadly applicable platform for users in the life sciences. This automated platform, when applied to lead optimization, predictive toxicology, and new target validation, is proving to reduce the “idea-to-discovery” cycle time in drug discovery, while increasing the probability of the therapeutic success of leads. Currently, Cellomics’ proprietary ArrayScan® HCS Platforms are in use at multiple sites within the top fifteen pharmaceutical companies in the world, as well as most leading other pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and major academic centers globally.
