Largest gathering of high content screening and analysis expertise at annual User Group meeting Print E-mail

Pittsburgh, PA (January 18, 2005). -- As the leader and founder of HCS, Cellomics, Inc. is pleased to be the executive sponsor of the Cambridge Healthtech Institute (CHI) annual High Content Analysis conference to be held in San Francisco January 25-28, 2005 where they will hold their annual User Group meeting. With continued growth in the use of high content screening (HCS) and analysis for cell biology, CHI is expecting a remarkable turn out at this year’s conference.

The conference brings together scientists from pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies as well as key academic institutions, to address productive uses of high content analysis applications and technology, which are heavily impacting the research and drug discovery processes. In addition, Cellomics will offer a scientific gathering of customers and users of these technologies from its large installed base to discuss effective implementation of HCS across various therapeutic groups, usability improvements, and future trends at the Cellomics User Group meeting on Thursday, January 27th.

“Because we are a company solely focused on high content cellular analysis, the HCA conference is critical to us and our customers. This is the ideal forum for us to interact with our customers and give them an opportunity to share their experiences of implementing HCA to further their drug discovery efforts,” says Dan Calvo, President and CEO of Cellomics. “Our employees and customers represent the largest pool of high content screening and analysis knowledge available. The conference and user group allow us to share this knowledge to help perpetuate the successful use of HCS technology, while simultaneously helping us to better meet the needs of our customers by providing insight on future requirements.”

In addition to the User Group, Cellomics’ scientist Dr. Michael Sipe will give a presentation entitled “Statistical Tools for Configuring, Optimizing, and Validating HCS Assay Protocols” during the New Technology Showcase portion of the conference and Cellomics’ BioApplications Product Manager, Dr. Sarah Tencza will facilitate a panel discussion on Phenotypic Targets in HCS on Thursday, January 27th. Cellomics will also have HCS scientists available to discuss technology and biology with all meeting attendees.  These scientists will be available in the exhibit hall at Booth # 1, 2.  Cellomics will be showcasing its HCS platform, which includes instrumentation, software, and reagents.  Real cell-based assay samples will be available for customers who would like to see how the technology works.

About Cellomics

Cellomics, Inc. is automating drug discovery through a unique, cell-based assay platform that addresses the needs of Drug Discovery and Systems Biology groups by offering complete systems for High Content Screening (HCS).  The platform includes HCS instrumentation (both fixed end-point and kinetic systems), informatics, cellular image analysis software (BioApplications), fluorescent reagents, kits, cell lines, and multiparametric assays.  When applied to early drug discovery, this platform is proving to reduce the 'idea-to-discovery' cycle time in drug discovery, while increasing the probability of the therapeutic success of leads as well as enhancing throughput in systems biology and basic research. Cellomics’ proprietary platforms, including the ArrayScan® and KineticScan® HCS Readers, along with BioApplications software and High Content Informatics (HCi™) suite, are in use at multiple sites within all of the top fifteen pharmaceutical companies, as well as leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and academic centers globally.
