Hi-Resolution Cellular Imaging

High-content cellular imaging is becoming more important and, in many cases, required as academic and industrial research evolves. cellWoRx, Applied Precision's and Cellomics' answer to meet the growing requirements for high quality, high-content imaging, is based on the company's proprietary imaging platform. Optimized around a proprietary illumination pathway and quality optical components, cellWoRx provides the user with a fully integrated system incorporating the high resolution and quantifiability required by today's most demanding applications.

cellWoRx is a 4-color automated imaging system compatible with SBS standard 6-, 24-, 96-, and 384-well plate formats, as well as standard 1" x 3" microscope slides. Incorporating features such as fast image acquisition, industry-leading signal-to-noise ratios, integrated autofocus, flexible software interface and robotready design, cellWoRx provides the flexibility necessary for an automated imaging environment. This flexibility, paired with the system's unmatched image quality, makes cellWoRx a premium choice for today's cellular imaging needs.

Quantitative, High-Resolution Data

Based on Applied Precision's proprietary imaging platform, users can be assured of high-quality, reproducible data.

  • High signal-to-noise ratio by capturing significantly more photons during image acquisition
  • Large, linear dynamic range by acquiring data with a low noise, large well depth CCD camera
  • The only scanner available with Applied Precision's proprietary on-the-fly deconvolution software for increased resolution and contrast
  • Z-scan extended field-of-view

Image Acquisition

  • Fast acquisition time of ~ 20 minutes for an entire 384-well plate at full resolution (1440 x 936 pixels with autofocus and two fluorescence channels per well
  • Wavelength flexibility from UV (EX 350 nm) to near-IR (EM 750 nm)
  • Fast, image-based autofocus
  • Rapid filter switching for up to 4 filter sets
  • User selectable resolutions using camera binning modes of 1 x 1 to 16 x 16
  • Ability to save presets for user- or sample-specific imaging parameters
  • Intensity and measurement tools during image acquisit

System Hardware Features

  • Precision Z focus mechanism
  • 1000 hour lamp
  • Feed-back stabilized illumination intensity for entire lifetime of lamp
  • Easy-to-read front status panel

vHCS™ Analysis Toolbox

vHCS Analysis Toolbox, provided by Cellomics, Inc., allows researchers to analyze images acquired on the cellWoRx. This analysis package includes:

  • vHCS:Scan for cellWoRx - an interface for reviewing acquired images and optimizing protocols;
  • vHCS:View for cellWoRx - for viewing, graphing and exporting numeric data; and
  • Cell Analysis Tool - a general BioApplication image analysis module.

vHCS Analysis Toolbox enables assay applications including cell cycle, morphological changes, nuclear translocation, mitotic index, compartmentalization and many other biologies. In addition, cellWoRx customers will have the opportunity to enhance their analysis functionality through supplementary BioApplications available from Cellomics.
